From big and loose to tightly coiled, curly hair has always been in
fashion. Naturally curly hair is due to the twisted shape of the hair
follicle. More twists means more curls.
Curly hair is considered by many as both a blessing and a curse. While curly hair can be voluminous, bouncy and beautiful, it can often be unruly, dry and very difficult to manage and style. Follow these simple tips to get beautiful and fuller curls.
1. Vinegar acts like a conditioner on dry
hair; it also has the desirable effect of removing dandruff that may be
contributing to the lackluster appearance of your hair. Take about half a
cup of vinegar and mix in 2 cups of water. Use this liquid as a
conditioner after you have rinsed the shampoo out of your hair. Allow it
to stay on for a few minutes and then rinse off completely with water.
2. Make a paste with 2 tablespoons of
coconut oil, 4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and 3 tablespoons of curd
and leave this on your hair for
about half an hour. Or, you could
collect a few hibiscus flowers, grind to a thick paste and to 2
teaspoons of this, and mix in half a cup of aloe vera gel and one
teaspoon of olive oil.
3. Another remedy that works well is eggs
with almond oil and curd. Beat 2 eggs, mix in about 2 tablespoons of
almond oil and half a cup of curd; stir to get a pasty mass and massage
this into the hair and scalp. Cover with a plastic cap for about 30
minutes and then wash with warm water and a mild shampoo.
4. Beer helps replenish moisture in your hair. Apart from revitalizing
curls, it will also make your hair softer, shinier and more bouncy. For
curly hair, it is recommended to use dark and non-alcoholic beer.
5. A regular hot oil massage is important for curly hair as it is prone to drying. It will add
moisture and help avoid fizzing. For this treatment, you can use olive,
coconut or almond oil.
6. Eggs are another very popular home remedy for curly hair. The high
protein and fat content in eggs helps add moisture and restore the
health of your hair.
7. An excellent herbal remedy for curly hair is fenugreek seeds. They have
high levels of lecithin, which is an emulsifying agent. This helps lock
in moisture to make your hair more flexible and block out humidity to
decrease frizz and make your hair look fuller and curlier.
